Experiential Education encompasses approximately one-third of the pharmacy curriculum. The experiential component provides in-depth exposure and real-life active participation in a variety of pharmacy settings. Pharmacy preceptors play a central role in experiential education. They serve as mentors and role models and demonstrate high professional standards. Preceptors guide students in the application of knowledge learned in the classroom and evaluate the student’s progress.
The Office of Experiential Education in collaboration with adjunct and affiliate faculty, advisory board members and preceptors strives to ensure that experiential programming is meeting the goals and objectives of MCV/VCU School of Pharmacy’s Mission Statement and Curricular Global Outcomes.
