Nontraditional Doctor of Pharmacy Program Admissions


IT IS THE APPLICANT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY THAT ALL REQUIRED INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTS NEEDED TO EVALUATE THE APPLICATION ARE RECEIVED BY THE VCU SCHOOL OF PHARMACY OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS.    

Admission requirements

Applicants for this program must be graduates of a 5-year Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited program and must be currently licensed to practice pharmacy in the United States.

Prior to enrolling, successful applicants must meet the immunization requirements set forth in the “General Information” section of this bulletin. Prior to beginning the practice rotations students must provide proof of immunity to hepatitis B and complete the school’s HIPAA and OSHA training.

VCU does not discriminate against qualified applicants for admission who have disabilities, and seeks to provide reasonable accommodation to applicants and admitted students who identify themselves as having disabilities. Academic requirements essential to the program or directly related to licensing requirements will not be substituted. Application for Admission And Fee

Nontraditional Pharm.D. program is being phased out. No applications will be accepted after August 15, 2007.

Click this link to download the application form. The application form for the Nontraditional Program can be edited online and then printed for submission to the School of Pharmacy. You must download Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to view/edit the form.

The official application form must be completed and signed. Applicants must include with the application materials a check or money order payable to VCU in the amount of $50.00 for the non-refundable application fee. The application form and ALL supporting documents must be submitted in a single envelope to:

The School of Pharmacy will send you a letter to acknowledge receipt of your application package.

Official Transcripts

An official transcript from the college or university attended while obtaining your initial pharmacy degree must be submitted. (Note: It will not be necessary to provide a transcript for initial pharmacy degree if you are a graduate of the VCU School of Pharmacy.) Additionally, please request a transcript(s) for all course work completed after obtaining your initial pharmacy degree. Instruct the registrar(s) to send you one official transcript in a sealed envelope. You should then enclose this envelope in your admission application packet. DO NOT BREAK THE SEAL. Contents of envelopes that have broken seals will not considered during the application review.

Personal Reference

The applicant will request a reference from an employer or supervisor. Provide the individual serving as reference with a copy of the attached guidelines and an envelope in which to seal the letter. The recommendation should be sealed and signed across the seal, and returned to you. DO NOT BREAK THE SEAL. Contents of envelopes that have broken seals will not be considered during the application review.

Pharmacist Licensure Verification

The applicant must submit a notarized copy of a current license validating the ability to practice as a pharmacist in the United States.

Statement of Professional Goals

The applicant must provide a statement of past professional accomplishments with an explanation of how the Doctor of Pharmacy degree will enable the accomplishment of future goals and objectives.

Interview

The Admissions Committee reserves the right to request a personal interview.
