Why Education?
The VCU School of Education is a highly ranked School of Education and our academic programs, faculty, and students offer a diverse and welcoming environment to pursue your academic interests. Graduates of our programs are in high demand, and career opportunities in education and health-related fields are expanding.
Our Goals
The primary objective of the School of Education at Virginia Commonwealth University is to prepare students for careers in education, government, health-related professions, and research. Programs at the baccalaureate, post-baccalaureate, master, post-master and doctoral levels enable novice through advanced students to gain skills, knowledge and experience.
The School of Education, as an integral part of an urban university, conducts research and provides professional development training leading to new knowledge about teaching, learning and wellness. In turn, these new understandings become a part of courses and ensure that School of Education students are exposed to the most current thinking available.
Each of the six departments house programs that reflect the best that individual disciplines have to offer. Pride, preparation and professionalism are the keys to successful academic programs. Each School of Education student has the opportunity to learn from faculty who are dedicated to their success.Graduate

The M.S.A.T. program will apply for accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) in September 2007 with an expected program evaluation in the spring semester of 2008. Application for CAATE accreditation does not guarantee accreditation, and if accreditation is not awarded to the M.S.A.T. program following their anticipated site visit, students enrolled in the program will not be eligible to register with the Board of Certification and take the certifying examination.
